Knowledge Bowl

Knowledge Bowl team with trophy at practice

The Minnesota Service Cooperative Knowledge Bowl competitions are interdisciplinary academic contests for students.

The Senior High Knowledge Bowl is for students in grades 9-12. During the competition, teams of students compete in written and oral rounds by answering questions related to all areas of learning, typical of secondary educational programs. Questions test student’s recall, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. This format provides for student growth centered on academics.

In 2022, Knowledge Bowl Team Black took 3rd place in the state competition after winning the regional competition, a school record for highest team placement in a season!

Holy Family’s Knowledge Bowl team, coached by Holy Family science instructor Mr. Jim Walker, practices for approximately one hour on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the school year.

Members of the team frequently warm up for the Knowledge Bowl competitive season by competing in the fall season of Quiz Bowl. While different in format, the preparation for Quiz Bowl competition pays large benefits in the winter Knowledge Bowl competitions. The 2019-2020 Quiz Bowl team qualified for the National Small School Competition in Illinois in April 2020.
